Even though it’s only 28 days, February seemed like the longest month of the year. We’re almost to the end of winter, but I’m at that point where I hate every sweater I own because I’ve worn each one one million times. And I feel like I never see the sun. It’s no wonder everyone around me seems a little snappier than usual. (Anyone else experiencing this?)
I am so excited that it’s finally MARCH! We’re going to be slipping into our flip flops in no time. While we wait, here are a few things that I think make the last weeks of winter more enjoyable.
Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi: When the days are gray, it helps to curl up with a real page-turner, and Homegoing was a book I could not put down. Gyasi takes us through generations of characters stemming from two sisters in Africa in the late 18th century: one sister is married to an English slave trader, the other is captured as a slave herself. You alternate from one bloodline to the other as you move through history (and from Africa to the US)– great read, and definitely minimized the boredom on my daily commute.
L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Amber Rush:If your look needs a refresh, grab one of these cult favorites from your local drugstore and feel refreshed for about 8 bucks (or less on Amazon!). I can almost never find this shade in NYC because it’s always sold out, and it’s easy to see why– the shimmer can go from day to night, and the color is almost universally flattering.
Essie Barefoot and Topless Nail Polish: If you can’t be barefoot and topless in real life, might as well live out the fantasy in your nail polish. This was a good neutral color with pink undertones and was a perfect pick-me up last week.
Have a great week!
